We had the Sheriff’s Office (San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department) come in Monday with suspicion that there was – they had reason to believe that were was an illegal cannabis operation, because they can smell in the area. So they went up to the building where it was, came in and reported it to us (City of Needles), and we took a look at their utility bill and found a spike in use in electricity, which told us that there was probably cultivation. So we then went to court and got both a search warrant and inspection warrant- ones for criminal and one for civil – and the judge signed those, and on Tuesday morning we executed them (the warrants) and went out there with the warrants and we found a mother plant had clone and found 40 plus plants, which they were not allow to have in a commercial enterprise zone, home and personal use doesn’t comply here. So we issued notices of violation for ever plant, we had County Fire (San Bernardino County Fire Department) there worried if there was any hazmat materials which they found nothing, building officials were their (City of Needles) for building code violations which they found violations related to wiring. Afterwards, the guy said he wanted to get this matter resolve so this morning (Thursday, April 5th, 2018), Adrian (Senior Needles Code Enforcement Officer) video taped him grinding up all the plants and the product that there were some buds that were harvested because there has been a harvest even know there were like 40 plus plants growing, there was a harvest recently. So he wanted to resolve the matter so Adrian (Senior Needles Code Enforcement Officer) video taped him grinding it up, mixed it with dirt, and it got brought up to a landfill,” Needles City Manager Rick Daniels telling ZachNews.

ZachNews asked if anybody gotten cited or arrested by deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station.

We (City of Needles) cited them notices of violations but they (San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station) did not  – there was no arrest,” said Needles City Manager Rick Daniels adding,We as a City (City of Needles) handle it as a civil matter and we issued 40 plus violations, and as of now, its shut down, cleaned up, all materials gone, and this was the only location that was shut down.”

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels tells ZachNews that this is was the second illegal cannabis operation that got found and shut down this year, the other illegal cannabis operation that was discovered was at a home along K Street in Needles, California.
