Calabasas, California: Lisa Marie Presley, singer, songwriter and the only child of Elvis Presley, has died on Thursday, January 12th, 2023.
In a statement, her mother Priscilla Presley said, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
The announcement came just hours after Priscilla Presley confirmed that her 54 year old daughter was rushed to the hospital earlier today.
A spokesperson for the family issued during the afternoon an additional statement saying, “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, paramedics were dispatched to a home in Calabasas, California at 10:37 a.m. PT following a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest.
According to a subsequent statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, paramedics performed CPR and “determined the patient had signs of life” before taking her to the hospital immediately.
The death comes just 2 days after Lisa Marie Presley attended the Golden Globe Awards ceremony held inside the Beverly Hilton during the night last Tuesday with her mother Priscilla where they were there to support the Baz Luhrmann film “Elvis,” about her late father.
Just days before that, Lisa Marie Presley was in Memphis, Tennessee, at Graceland – the mansion where Elvis lived – to celebrate her father’s birth anniversary on January 8th.
Lisa Marie Presley was a singer; releasing her album “To Whom It May Concern” in 2003, featuring the hit single “Lights Out,” and reached No. 5 on the Billboard charts and earning a gold certification.
Lisa Marie Presley followed up that release with the album “Now What” in 2005 and “Storm & Grace” in 2012, the latter of which was produced by T Bone Burnett.
Lisa Marie Presley recently penned an essay published in People about “the horrific reality” of her grief following her son Benjamin Keough’s death by suicide in 2020.
Our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the family and friends of Lisa Marie Presley.
