Barstow, California: Officers from the Barstow Police Department arrested a local local man after responding to early morning shots fired along the 400 block of West Fredricks Street near Barstow High School.
According to the press release by the Barstow Police Department, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at approximately 6:54 A.M., Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Fredricks Street regarding shots heard in the area.
Officers immediately responded to the scene and learned that a male adult was seen firing shots into the air. The reporting party described the subject as a male adult wearing blue jeans and a black sweater.
School Resource Officers, Pena and Gatti locked down Barstow High School. The responding officers located a subject in the area matching the description of the suspect. The subject was identified as Macal Johnson, a 23-year-old resident of Barstow.
Officers detained Johnson and conducted an infield show up. Johnson was positively identified by witnesses as the suspect seen shooting in the area. Barstow High School remained on lock down during the initial steps of the investigation and was taken off of lockdown at approximately 7:08 A.M.
Johnson was arrested for PC 626.9(B) – Discharging a Firearm in a School Zone, PC 245.3(A) – Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, PC 29800 (A)(1) – Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 30305 (A)(1) – Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and PC 3455 – Violation of Post Release Community Supervision. Johnson was booked at the San Bernardino County High Desert Detention Center.
