Barstow, California: Officers from the Barstow Police Department responded to shots fired near Barstow High School on Thursday, October 6th, 2022.

According to a press release from the Barstow Police Department, at 9:00 a.m., our School Resource Officer called out shots fired near Barstow High School.

The school resource officer locked down the high school and stem academy; Officers and detectives from the Barstow Police department responded to the scene.

The suspect was identified as an adult female leaving in a green vehicle south on Mount Vernon.

Officers and detectives stopped the vehicle and detained both a male driver and a female passenger from the vehicle.

The initial investigation revealed the shots did not occur from the high school, but instead from across the street between the female and male during a domestic dispute.

The school was locked down as officers processed the scene and was then taken out of lock down at 10:00 a.m. PT.

Currently, there are officers and school staff available at the high school to provider further information or to answer any questions from parents.
