Las Vegas, Nevada: People across the community gathered together to remember the deadly mass shooting attack during the Route 91 Harvest music festival that occurred 5 years ago tonight.
On Sunday, October 1st, 2017, a gunman began shooting from a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel onto innocent people attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The gunman took the lives of 58 people and wounding 851 people, some from gunshots and some from people running for safety.
The gunman, a 64 year old male from Mesquite, Nevada, was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The gunman’s motive remains officially undetermined, but his deadly shooting attack on innocent lives shocked not only the city, but a nation.

The City of Las Vegas held a remembrance ceremony at the Healing Garden during the night on Saturday, October 1st, 2022.
People gathered at the remembrance ceremony with candles lit as City of Las Vegas’ Communications Director David Riggleman and City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman read the names of the 58 victims.
A bell rang and a candle was lit in remembrance of each of the 58 people who died 5 years ago tonight.
May we never forget all of the victims we lost during the deadly mass shooting attack during the Route 91 Harvest music festival, may we always give thanks everyday to all of our emergency responders and volunteers who rushed towards danger to help save lives; may we never be divided and always remember to be Las Vegas Strong.
