This is in regards to the moments when 15 year old Savannah Graziano got out of the murder suspect’s vehicle and was wounded from gunfire and later died at a hospital.

This all began after 45 year old Anthony John Graziano was wanted for the killing of his wife, identified by Fontana Police Department as Tracy Martinez, during a domestic violence incident on Monday, September 26th, 2022 in Fontana, California.

Fontana Police Department began a search for the Anthony and later issued an Amber Alert for his daughter Savannah Graziano who they believe Anthony was with when he fled the area.

On Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, somebody noticed the vehicle that was mentioned in the issued Amber Alert and contacted authorities.

Authorities arrived near Highway 395 and Highway 58 west of Barstow, California, and engaged with the murder suspect who then began shooting at deputies leading to a police pursuit that ended with a shootout along Interstate 15 at Main Street in Hesperia, California.

During a press conference held just a few hours after the shootout last Tuesday, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “During that fire fight, the suspect’s vehicle comes to rest, at which time a subject exits the passenger side of the vehicle wearing tactical gear. That subject starts to run towards Sheriff’s deputies, and during the gunfire goes down. Sheriff’s deputies immediately go to clear the vehicle so they can clear the vehicle, make it safe, and render medical aid.”

Later, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “as the deputies render medical aid and realized that this is Savannah in the tactical gear, they immediately transport her to an area… a local area hospital. At 1152 hours, Savannah is pronounced decease.”

When asked how did the girl get away during the shootout, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said “We didn’t know it was a girl initial wearing tactical gear, this is in the middle of a fire fight.”

When asked the shooting back and forth with Mrs Graziano, was she’s in the middle of that, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “There may… preliminary again, there may be some indications that the passenger of the vehicle, which we believe is Savannah, may have been also involved in the fire exchange.”

When asked what do you mean by that “which we believe is Savannah, may have been also involved in the fire fight” and what information do you have, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “There may be some information that the passenger was involved in the firing back at the deputies, and we’re still trying to confirmed that at this point.”

When asked if he believe it’s true, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “We don’t know; it’s so early in this investigation folks. This is highly complex – it covers as you can imagine the number of miles coming out from Highway 58 and 395, all the way down from the Barstow area, coming back here; very substantial investigation, multiple scenes in terms of shootings occurred and ultimately ending up out here.”

Questions were raised if Savannah Graziano was armed or unarmed during the moment she decided to leave the suspect’s vehicle.

When asked what weapons were found at the scene, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “There is a rifle found at the scene. What type is it, I’m just being told it may be an A.R. type rifle but I haven’t confirmed; this is all preliminary at this time.”

When asked inside of the truck that the weapon was found, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “Inside of the truck.”

In a video posted on social media on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “Our specialized detectives process the scene throughout the night and provided me with a briefing this morning. Based on the information, evidence suggests that Savannah Graziano was a participant in shooting at our deputies. However, based on the totality of the events and the requirements of Assembly Bill 1506, I consulted with the Department of Justice in assuming the primary for this investigation.”

Since the last update, the California’s Department of Justice was announced that they would be investigating the shootout under California’s Assembly Bill 1506 in this case.

Well the California’s Department of Justice is investigating the death of an unarmed civilian during the shootout, questions are being raised if there were body worn cameras recording the shootout after conflicting reports begin circulating that deputies didn’t have body worn cameras.

During a press conference held just a few hours after the shootout last Tuesday, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus was asked if any of the deputies involved or any of their patrol vehicles have video cameras, body cam video or anything like that, are they checking those.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “Yes, we’re analyzing that; where the video came from or from the airship above it that were actually above the pursuit itself.”

When asked you got ground and air, were you tracking it the whole way, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Shannon Dicus said, “We got… in the area just outside of Barstow is when the aircraft is able to get over them and we do have videos from the aircraft.”

ZachNews asked the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department about if there were or weren’t any body worn cameras recording the shootout.

In an email to ZachNews, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Public Information Officer Gloria Huerta said, “No further comments will be made regarding this case. Inquiries should be made to DOJ as they have assumed the investigation.”
