Las Vegas, Nevada: Clark County Public Administrator Official arrested for killing local journalist makes brief court appearance during the morning on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022.
During the morning on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, 69 year old Jeff German, a local journalist with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, was fatally stabbed outside his home near Vegas Drive and Tenaya Way.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner confirmed that German’s death was a homicide due to multiple sharp force injuries.
On Monday, September 5th, 2022, local authorities asked for public help to identify a suspect.
On Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Captain Dori Koren shared new photos of a red or maroon 2007-2014 GMC Yukon Denali with chrome handles, a sunroof, and a luggage rack; the vehicle believed to be connected to Jeff German’s killing.
A vehicle similar to the vehicle in pictures that Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Captain Dori Koren shared was spotted parked in the driveway at a home along Spanish Steps Lane near Grand Canyon Drive and Sahara Avenue.
The home was that of 45 year old Robert Telles, a Clark County Public Administrator Official.
On Wednesday, September 7th, 2022, investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spent hours serving a search warrant at home of 45 year old Robert Telles, a Clark County Public Administrator Official, in the Peccole Ranch, Nevada area.
Later that day, Robert Telles arrived back to the home, and SWAT, FBI and undercover police vehicles entering the neighborhood.
After an hours-long standoff with authorities, Robert Telles was loaded into an ambulance and transported to University Medical Center’s trauma center.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said they found DNA on Jeff German’s body that matched Robert Telles, and a search of Telles’s home uncovered a hat and shoes matching those worn by a suspect captured on video in the area of German’s house.
Robert Telles was arrested and charged with murder of the local journalist.
Yesterday, Robert Telles stood at the doorway to the courtroom wearing bandages on both of his arms and appeared to be smiling at one point.
Authorities said Robert Telles had self-inflicted wounds when he was taken into custody last week.
Robert Telles stood there as his arraignment was continued until Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 at his attorney’s request.
Robert Telles is being held at Clark County Detention Center without bail.
ZachNews has learned that a few months ago, Robert Telles was the subject of an investigation news report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal by Jeff German.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, current and former employees in his office leveled allegations of emotional stress, bullying and favoritism against Robert Telles, and some claimed Robert Telles was in an “inappropriate relationship” with a female subordinate staffer.

On Tuesday, June 14th, 2022, Robert Telles reported lost his primary re-election bid after Rita Reid defeated Caroline Escobar and Robert Telles for Clark County Public Administrator.

Days after he lost his primary re-election bid, Robert Telles began publicized his frustrations with Jeff German through Twitter on multiple occasions (Pictures Above).
Robert Telles later published a letter on his election website stating the accusations against him were false.
Well Robert Telles is charged with the murder of Jeff German, his status as the Clark County Public Administrator along with his taxpayer-funded salary of reportedly $130,000 annually will remain for now.
Officials from Clark County are reviewing its options under the law regarding Robert Telles’ current status as the Public Administrator, but say Robert Telles’ is still the elected Public Administrator.
Robert Telles’ current term as the Clark County Public Administrator ends on January 2nd, 2023, and a new Public Administrator is on the ballot to be elected in November 2022.
Following the arrest of the Robert Telles, the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s executive editor, Glenn Cook, said in a statement that “the arrest of Robert Telles is at once an enormous relief and an outrage for the Review-Journal newsroom. We are relieved Robert Telles is in custody and outraged that a colleague appears to have been killed for reporting on an elected official.”
