Banning, California: A helicopter carrying personnel battling the Fairview Fire crashed near Banning Municipal Airport before 4:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, September 10th, 2022.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft, a Bell 206 helicopter, crashed in a residential backyard while approaching the airport to land.
Firefighters and law enforcement respondes to the scene.
According to the United States Forest Service and San Bernardino National Forest, a pilot, and 2 fire personnel were extricated from the helicopter, and sustained moderate injuries.
They were transported to a local trauma center for further treatment and evaluation
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, and the NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide additional updates.
