Breaking News: Needles, CA: Possible microburst damages some outdoor structures and blew down trees, light pole, and power poles knocking power off to community.

Needles, California: A possible microburst hit community with very gusty winds, downpouring rain, thunder and lightning at around 4:30 p.m. PT on Friday, August 26th, 2022.

Very gusty winds of rain that felt like rocks hitting my face the ZachNews Photojournalist well trying to stand in the storm near the San Bernardino County Public Library.

ZachNews will have the longer video of the microburst later.

Only ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez is running around on his own searching for any storm related damages.

At Duke Watkins Park, these pictures from ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez show a light pole at the basketball court fell over and some tree branches blown across the grass near the new playground.

Off of L Street near Washington Street, this picture from ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez of a utility worker is working along a power pole, related to the power outage that occurred following the possible microbursts.

According to the City of Needles, multiple power poles are down and power is out in the areas of Lillyhill Drive, Monterey Avenue and the Gates Subdivision.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels tells ZachNews that doesn’t trees knock down in the area, a power pole knocked down near the Westside Circle K Chevron Gas Station and an initial reports of a power pole knocked down near the old Denny’s restaurant.

Near the northside of the River Edge Golf Course, this pictures from ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez shows a patio roof got blown off during the microburst.

ZachNews has learned from nearby residents that the occupants of the residents along Marina Drive were not at home at the time of the microburst.

There is also another piece of roofing structure that got blown on the other side of Marina Drive during the microburst.

No reports of injuries in this area related to the microburst.
