Golden Valley, Arizona: A swift water rescue of 2 adults and 2 kids from a stranded vehicle in a running wash along Shinarump Road on Sunday, August 21st, 2022.

According to a press release from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office’s Search and Rescue, at about 10:00 p.m. Sunday, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call for help from 25-year-old male passenger indicating that he and three others were in a Chevy Malibu sedan and stranded in a running wash on Shinarump Road and needed rescuing.

The driver was a 32-year-old female and there were two children (a10-year-old boy and a 7-year-old female) in the sedan, as well. Search and Rescue responded to the scene, rescued the stranded motorists and then escorted them to safety.

Shinarump Road has remained closed from the storms the previous week.

Even though Search and Rescue and many other Divisions of Mohave County continue to remind everyone to stay out of running water crossing roadways, it’s troubling to have so many people that continue to be negligent and put others at risk.

While the timing and intensity of the Monsoon storms vary significantly throughout Mohave County – literally making it impossible to predict where and how they will impact the local transportation system, it can be a deadly mistake to drive into these flooded roadways.

Regardless of signs, barricades or other visual identifiers – sometimes a little common sense can go a long way – as many over the years have adapted to the phrase of “Turn Around, Don’t Drown”!

According to a press release from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office’s Search and Rescue, the driver was cited.

Great work to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office’s Search and Rescue.
