Golden Valley, Arizona: Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office releases identity of a local man who died when pickup truck swept down a wash on Sunday, July 31st, 2022.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, just after 10:00 a.m. Monday, deputies the received a call indicating that while riding their ATVs in a wash, they came across a white Chevy truck that was upside down and had a deceased male inside.

Deputies responded to the scene and requested Search and Rescue to assist in recovering him.

The body was conveyed to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office, “the male subject has been positively identified as John Craig Johnson, 69 of Golden Valley, Arizona. Our condolences are with the family. Please respect their privacy during this time.”

The investigation of the scene revealed that the truck had been swept down the wash the night before on Sunday (7/31) during the monsoon rains.

There were multiple calls of vehicles reported that night, but no reports of a vehicle at this location.

The swift waters created by the monsoon rains are very dangerous, and oftentimes recede quickly.

ZachNews and the people of the Colorado River Tri-State communities send our thoughts, prayers that condolences to the family and friends of John Craig Johnson.
