San Bernardino County, California: Multiple roads in the Mojave National Preserve closed due to debris and washouts from storms.

The picture (posted above) was taken today at Mile 17 along North Kelbaker Road where the Old Mojave Road intersects.

According to the National Park Service, Kelbaker Road, Cima Road, Essex Road, and Morning Star Road are closed until further notice.

Park staff continue to assess the damage. When conditions are safe, the preserve will reopen roads.

More rain is expected this afternoon which may affect other roads.

For the most current road status, please visit: https://www.nps.gov/moja/road-conditions.htm

Remember during storms, drive carefully through the desert roadways, do not drive into flooded roadways and do not get close to flash flooded washes.
