Needles, California: A ribbon cutting ceremony was held during the morning on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022 to celebrate the grand opening of the new playground at Duke Watkins Park located off Flip Mendez Parkway just south of Hospitality Lane.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez was there broadcasting live on Facebook the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the new playground at Duke Watkins Park.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels tells ZachNews that  representatives from the City of Needles including members from the Needles City Council and Needles Recreation and Parks Commission, and employees from the Needles Recreation Center and Needles Public Works Department, as well as members from the Legacy Foundation and the Needles Chamber of Commerce were in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new playground includes new swings, slides and climbers as well as new swing set all painted in the colors of the Needles High School Mustangs.

Gates will be removed and all will be ready to play by Friday, July 1st, 2022.
