Needles, California: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station has confirmed that a local women was arrested, issued a citation and released with a future court date after pickup truck crashed off River Road that occurred during the afternoon on Sunday, June 12th, 2022.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, at approximately 3:33 p.m. PT, deputies contacted Gay Costa, 63 years old resident of Needles, California, during a call for service near the 1300 block of River Road.

Medical Engine 32 from San Bernardino County Fire District 32 along with Medical Ambulance 31 responded to the crash.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, Costa was found to be in violation of VC 23152(A), Driving Under the Influence, and was consequently arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking.

Costa was later issued a citation and released from the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, with a future court date.

Initially reports over on the scanner from the San Bernardino County Fire District that a person was transported to the hospital, but the latest update from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station states no mention of anybody being transported.

A Toe Truck towing service responded to the crash, and worked to remove the pickup truck from along side of the roadway as motorists had to merged onto a single lane along this heavenly traveled roadway to and from the Colorado River, including from popular Jack Smith Memorial Park and Needles Marina Resort.

At 8:00 p.m. PT, the pickup truck was removed, debris cleared off the roadway and the roadway was cleared to motorists heading back home from a day at the Colorado River.
