Washington, District of Columbia: The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is promising to reveal new information during a prime time Thursday as it seeks to capture the public’s attention and lay out how it says American democracy came close to being subverted.
Summing up an 11 month long investigation, Thursday’s hearing kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT), and will be the first of six this month where the committee says it will explain a “multi-step, coordinated attempt” by former United States President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and, for the time in United States history, stop a peaceful transfer of power.
The nine-member panel has collected more than 140,000 documents and 1,000 witness interviews throughout the course of the investigation, and members have promised to introduce never-before-seen videos and exhibits that they say will shock the public.
