Barstow, CA: Vehicle fire with a trapped person occured along West Main Street near Delaney Road late night last Friday.

Barstow, California: A vehicle fire occurred along West Main Street near Delaney Road late at night on Friday, June 3rd, 2022.

According to the Barstow Fire Protection District, at approximately 11:23 p.m. PT, Barstow Fire And Police Dispatch received multiple reports of a vehicle on fire with the driver trapped inside. The incident was located on W. Main Street and Delaney Rd in the unincorporated area of Barstow.

Barstow Fire units ME366, ME361 and BC4712 responded. ME366 arrived first on scene to find the vehicle well involved with a confirmed person trapped.

ME366 (Captain John Wymore and FF/PM Dylan Devlin immediately initiated a rescue of the trapped victim and containment of the Fire. San Bernardino County Fire ME4 from Helendale was near by after clearing a non related incident and assisted with fire attack and rescue.

ME361 arrived and was assigned to medical group and provided life saving measures to the solo occupant who sustained major burn injuries.

The patient was placed into Desert Ambulance and transported as advanced life saving measures were continued. The patient was transported to Mercy Air 66 where he was airlifted to a Trauma Center.

“First and foremost, I want to send our prayers to the occupant and his family. This is just another example of how our guys are truly Seal Team 6!” said Chief Nick DiNapoli.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation by Barstow PD and CHP.
