Encino, California: Several people have been stabbed and a suspect is barricaded inside the Encino Hospital Medical Center at around 3:50 p.m. PT on Friday, June 3rd, 2022.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a man believed to be in his mid to late 30’s walked directly into the emergency room of Encino Hospital Medical Center, located at 16237 Ventura Boulevard, asking for medical treatment for anxiety, and soon after allegedly stabbed multiple victims.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department along with firefighters and paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department began responding to the scene.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, at least 2 nurses and a doctor were injured during the incident, and were wheeled out of the facility and transported to a trauma center.
The stabbing suspect is said to still be barricaded in the hospital and a SWAT team arrived and entered the building.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man has a prior criminal record, and has previously been arrested twice, most recently for battery of a police officer and resisting arrest sometime last year.
As for the identity of the man, the Los Angeles Police Department wasn’t able to release that information yet.
At this moment, there’s no information that makes authorities believe the suspect has any prior relationship to the victims.
The hospital is on lockdown, and Ventura Boulevard is closed from Libbit Avenue to Woodley Avenue.
