Breaking News: Needles, CA: California Highway Patrol confirms identities of 2 people in fatal overturned crash during the afternoon last Monday along Interstate 40 just east of Five Mile Road.

Needles, California: The California Highway Patrol has confirmed the identities of two people in fatal overturned crash along Interstate 40 just east of Five Mile Road at around 12:30 p.m. PT on Monday, May 30th, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol Officer Clinton Burrows from the Needles Area Office, “Party #1 identified as 32 year old Wittney Beckstead from Las Vegas was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40, west of Five Mile Road in the right lane. Party #2 identify it as 65 year old Donald Brink from Kingman was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40, east of Five Mile Road in the left lane, ahead of Party #1. Party #1 passed Party #2, then changed lanes into the left lane. In the process of changing lanes, the left rear of Vehicle #1 struck the right front of Vehicle #2, causing both vehicles to slide out of control into the center divider where Vehicle #1 overturned multiple times. Neither occupant of Vehicle #1 were utilizing the safety restraint system. Party #1 sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The passenger in Vehicle #1 identified as 35 year old Makelika Schnose from Las Vegas was ejected from the vehicle, was transported to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas and ultimately succumbed to her injuries. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol is a factor. Donald suffered minor injuries in the crash.”

Initially, the California Highway Patrol didn’t mention or confirmed anything to ZachNews regarding a missing dog from the crash despite some calls into ZachNews reporting a dog did go missing from the crash and a brief chatter on the scanner mentioning a dog at the crash site.

Days after the crash, the California Highway Patrol has confirmed to ZachNews that there was a dog that did go missing on that day from the crash, but was later found, transported to an animal shelter and was reunited.

The California Highway Patrol ask anybody to shows the families respect and privacy during these very sad times.

ZachNews and the people in the Colorado River Tri-State area send are thoughts prayers and condolences to the families and friends of Wittney Beckstead and Makelika Schnose who died in the fatal crash.
