Breaking News: Essex, CA: California Highway Patrol confirms person’s identity in fatal rollover vehicle crash early morning last Monday off westbound Interstate 40 just west of Essex Road.

Needles, California: The California Highway Patrol has confirmed the identity of a person in a fatal rollover vehicle crash that occurred off westbound Interstate 40 just west of Essex Road on the morning of Monday, May 30th, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol Officer Clinton Burrows from the Needles Area Office, “On 5/30/2022 at approximately 0030 hours, driver identified as 30 year old Nicholas Dostal from Lake Havasu City was driving his 2003 Toyota 4-Runner eastbound on I-40, while his passenger, identified as 21 year old Kaitlen Wallace also from Lake Havasu City was asleep in the rear of the vehicle and not wearing a seat belt. Dostal fell asleep while driving, allowing his vehicle to drift right and leave the paved -roadway surface, Dostal awoke as his vehicle traveled on the dirt right shoulder of I-40 eastbound and attempted to regain control of his vehicle by turning left. This turning movement caused the 4-Runner to across both eastbound lanes of I-40 and traverse the dirt center median. While traveling through the dirt center median, the 4-Runner entered into a roll over sequence, completing several full rotations. During the roll over sequence, Wallace was completely ejected from the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries. Dostal suffered moderate injury in the crash.”

The California Highway Patrol ask anybody to shows the family respect and privacy during these very sad times.
