Needles, California: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station is investigating a shooting of a person near Duke Watkins Park on Saturday, May 14th, 2022.

In a press release that was released today, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station said that at approximately 9:39 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to the 1500 block of Flip Mendez Parkway for a report of a shooting.

Deputies arrived on scene and located the victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Deputies and responding emergency personnel provided medical aid at the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

Detectives from the Colorado River Station are conducting the investigation.

No further information couldn’t be provided regarding the shooting, including if any of the nearby surveillance cameras set up at the park caught the incident.

The surveillance cameras have been there for a while to help capture any vandalism and other criminal behaviors at the park, which the feed from the surveillance cameras is streamed into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station located just a block away from the park.
