Downtown Needles, California: Members of the Needles Planning Committee unanimously voted to approve a conditional use permit for a cannabis cultivation facility off West Broadway and I Street.
The vote occurred during their meeting held on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 inside the Needles City Council Chambers which videos of the discussion and decision can be viewed only at ZachNews on Facebook.
More details and agenda item packet regarding this conditional use permit for a cannabis cultivation facility wasn’t provided to ZachNews by the Needles Assistant City Manager Development Services Patrick Martinez before the meeting tonight, but ZachNews checked out the meeting and learned that the application is from Edward Andrade who represents “209 I Street, Inc”, and the C.U.P. (Conditional Use Permit) is for a 25,782 square feet cannabis cultivation facility that would be constructed in a C-2 General Commercial Zone properties that include a dirt lot at 1115 West Broadway and a house that also once was an antique store at 1121 West Broadway, and another house at 209 I Street.
The two houses, once occupied by two separate families until they had to move out, will be demolition, cleared and a new two story cannabis cultivation facility building will be constructed with a parking lot, appropriate fencing and landscaping including trees.
The new cannabis cultivation facility will be located between a new cannabis cultivation and distribution facilities along West Broadway that is planned to be constructed at the site of an old nursery, and a cannabis cultivation already operating located along I Street.
During discussion and questioning, several people spoke about the facility and what will be constructed on the property, and some members suggested to them of some sore of an art decor along West Broadway; suggesting a Route 66 theme art.
After discussion and questions, the public had the opportunity to comment for against the conditional use permit but nobody from the public came up.
With discussions and questions completed, and nobody from the public coming up, members of the Needles Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve the conditional use permit for the conditional use permit for a cannabis cultivation facility.
The agenda item regarding the conditional use permit for a cannabis cultivation facility will now go to the Needles City Council for their discussion and final action vote at their next meeting.
