Colorado River Tri-State: The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has issued a Lake Wind Advisory in effect until 4:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. MT) on Monday, February 28th, 2022 for the Lake Mohave, Bullhead City and Fort Mohave in Arizona, San Bernardino County- Upper Colorado River Valley in California, and Lake Mohave to Laughlin in Nevada.
According to the National Weather Service, north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts over 40 mph possible, and waves of 1 to 3 feet.
In addition, the National Weather Service said strong northerly winds and rough waves from Lake Mohave to Davis Dam will create hazardous conditions for boaters. Localized wind gusts could result in some brief power outages, blowing dust, or minor structural damage.
Also the National Weather Service said the Lake Wind Advisory is mainly for Lake Mohave including Cottonwood Cove and Katherines Landing, south to the Davis Dam including Laughlin, and farther north including Lake Mead, is expected to see lesser wind and waves.
According to the National Weather Service, precautionary/preparedness actions includes boaters on area lakes should use extra caution since strong winds and rough waves can overturn small craft.
