San Bernardino County, CA: San Bernardino County Fire District has promoted and assigned 15 new fire captains throughout the county.

San Bernardino County, California: The San Bernardino County Fire District has promoted and assigned 15 new fire captains throughout the county in February 2022.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire District, each new San Bernardino County Fire District Fire Captain has previously worked in many capacities within San Bernardino County Fire, but most recently as Engineers throughout the Fire District.

Prior to being eligible for Fire Captain each candidate must be an Engineer, have completed ten California State Fire Marshal Company Officer classes and a preparation class to ready them for the position.

Their well-deserved promotions come after a rigorous testing process including; fire simulation exercises, oral examinations and interviews.

Fire Captains are tasked with ­­supervising 3-7 employees daily at a local fire station and oversee a fire engine or truck company.

  • Aaron Comstock: Assigned to Fire Station 44, City of Twentynine Palms

  • Chuck Franklin: Assigned to Fire Station 231, City of San Bernardino

  • Robert Gastel: Assigned to Fire Station 231, City of San Bernardino

  • Mike Laabs: Assigned to Fire Station 322, City of Adelanto

  • George Tom: Assigned to Fire Station 76, Community of Bloomington

  • Manny Saenz: Assigned to Fire Station 79, City of Fontana

  • Kevin Palmer: Assigned to Fire Station 78, City of Fontana

  • Kyle Chaffee: Assigned to Fire Station 322, City of Adelanto

  • Andrew Weiss: Assigned to Fire Station 74, City of Fontana, CA – City Government

  • Brandon DiDonato: Assigned to Fire Station 227, City of San Bernardino

  • Steven Avila: Assigned to Fire Station 229, City of San Bernardino Municipal Government

 

  • Chris Mercado: Assigned to Fire Station 302, City of Hesperia

  • Derek Blenkarn: Assigned to Fire Station 2, Community of Devore

  • Brandon McGarvey: Assigned to Fire Station 44, Twentynine Palms City Hall
