Weather Alert: Colorado River Tri-State: National Weather Service issues Wind Advisory from Wednesday morning to Thursday afternoon.

Colorado River Tri-State: The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has issued a Wind Advisory from 7:00 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. MT) on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2021 to 4:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. MT) on Thursday, February 3rd, 2021 for the Lake Havasu, Fort Mohave and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Arizona; San Bernardino County- Upper Colorado River Valley in California; and Laughlin and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada.

Communities include Lake Havasu City, Desert Hills, Topock, Bullhead City, Oatman, Mohave Valley, Needles, Hoover Dam, and Laughlin.

According to the National Weather Service, north winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts over 60 mph possible, with 2 to 4 foot waves for area lakes also possible, as well as strong wind gusts could lead to damage to some trees and power lines resulting in power outages; isolated structural damage may also result; high wave action on area lakes resulting in very dangerous, potentially life threatening boating conditions; and areas of blowing dust may also result.

In addition, the National Weather Service said winds are expected to peak during the afternoon on Wednesday, but strong winds gusts could begin as early as sunrise for parts of the Colorado River Valley and could linger through Thursday, and an upgrade to a High Wind Warning may be needed if conditions exceed expectations.

According to the National Weather Service, precautionary/preparedness actions includes use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle, and secure outdoor objects.
