Colorado River Tri-State: The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until 4:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. MT) on Saturday, January 22nd, 2021 for Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave-Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Eastern Mojave Desert-Cadiz Basin, and the San Bernardino County- Upper Colorado River Valley-Southern Clark County areas.
Communities include Lake Havasu City, Desert Hills, Topock, Bullhead City, Oatman, Mohave Valley, Baker, Mountain Pass, Mitchell Caverns, Vidal Junction, Needles, Hoover Dam, Laughlin, Primm, Searchlight, and Cal-Nev-Ari.
According to the National Weather Service, north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph expected
In addition, the National Weather Service said strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous boating conditions. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Dangerous crosswinds are possible along Interstate 15 between Barstow-Daggett and Primm as well as along Interstate 40 between Barstow-Daggett and Needles; and on the water wave heights between 1 and 3 feet expected on Lake Mead, Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu.
According to the National Weather Service, precautionary/preparedness actions includes use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
