Barstow, California: The Barstow Fire Protection District and a community is mourning the loss of Fire Engineer David Spink, who passed away on Sunday, January 9th, 2022.

Fire Engineer David Spink, untimely death follows a courageous battle after sustaining major injuries in a job-related accident on Sunday, December 5th, 2021.

I am deeply saddened to share that David Spink, an Engineer of the Barstow Fire Department, has died today, from the injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle at highway speeds on (Engineer. Dave Spin!, the northbound Interstate 15 on December 5, 2021. Our Hearts go out to Dave, family, loved ones, friends and fellow Barstow Fire brothers, and I ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow while respecting the family’s privacy,” said Barstow Fire Chief Nick DiNapoli.

David Spink began his career in 1990 with the Barstow Fire Department as a paid call firefighter. David Spink was hired full-time in 1993. David Spink promoted to the rank of Engineer in April of 1999, working at both Fire stations over the span of his career.

Fire Engineer David Spink served the citizens of Barstow, California and the Barstow Fire Department for more than 32 years.

David Spink is survived by his wife Coleen. father Walt and his brothers Logan and Ryan.

David Spink is also survived by his son Dallen, who is a Barstow Firefighter/Paramedic and is following in his father, footsteps.
