Brentwood, California: Betty White, beloved award winning actress, comedian, longtime animal welfare activist and American’s sweetheart and icon to many people, has died on Friday, December 31st, 2021 just days before she would have celebrated her 100th birthday in Monday, January 17th, 2022.

Betty White was born on Jan. 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois, and is considered to be a trailblazer of television, most famous for her lead role as Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls,” which ran from 1985 to 1992.

Betty White’s career was longer than any other female entertainer, having worked in the industry since 1939.

In the 1940’s, Betty White put her career on hold to volunteer for the American Women’s Voluntary Services during the Second World War.

Betty White is famously known for her iconic sitcom roles.

Betty White played the sweet, but salacious, Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

Betty White probably is best known for her role of the sweet and naïve Rose Nylund on 1980s hit “The Golden Girls.”

Betty White was a staple of many popular TV game shows of the 1960s, leading to the title of “First Lady of Game Shows.”

Betty White earned eight Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three American Comedy Awards and one Grammy Award.

Betty White was the first woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host for “Just Men!” in 1983.

Off screen, Betty White was known for her love of animals, working with several organizations whose work focused on animal rights and welfare.

Betty White said her secret to a long life was, “Don’t look ahead and … try not to look back.”

TMZ, People and Variety have all confirmed the sad lost.

TMZ reported that a source close to Betty White tells TMZ that she didn’t have any sudden illness, nor was she battling any particular ailment, and we’re told she’s believed to have died from natural causes.

In a statement issued today, Betty White’s agent and close friend Jeff Witjas tells PEOPLE magazine, “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever. I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.

Fans are beginning to gather at her star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California well on social media, fans are posting message in remembrances of Betty White.

The U.S. Army posted via Twitter, “We are saddened by the passing of Betty White. Not only was she an amazing actress, she also served during WWII as a member of the American Women’s Voluntary Services. A true legend on and off the screen.

United States President Joe Biden posted via Twitter, “Betty White brought a smile to the lips of generations of Americans. She’s a cultural icon who will be sorely missed. Jill and I are thinking of her family and all those who loved her this New Year’s Eve.
