Colorado River Tri-State: The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has issued a Wind Advisory in effect from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST (from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. MST) on Sunday, November 21st, 2021 for the areas in Arizona, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave and Lake Mead National Recreation Area; in California, San Bernardino County- Upper Colorado River Valley; and in Nevada, Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Communities include Lake Havasu City, Desert Hills, Topock, Bullhead City, Oatman, Mohave Valley, Needles, Hoover Dam, and Laughlin.
According to the National Weather Service, north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
In addition, the National Weather Service said strong north winds over the open waters will make the lake water rough and hazardous, and may result in high waves which may tip or swamp smaller craft; and drivers of high profile vehicles will encounter strong crosswinds along west to east oriented highways.
According to the National Weather Service, precautionary/preparedness actions include for your personal safety, avoid the open waters on lakes in the advisory area; stay close to shore or around protected areas; and use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle; and secure outdoor objects.
