Needles, California: A partial lunar eclipse occurred over the community overnight.

The partial lunar eclipse began at around 11:00 p.m. PST on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 and peaked at around 1:00 a.m. PST on Friday, November 19th, 2021.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez captured on camera the partial lunar eclipse at 1:00 a.m. PST from outside his place.

According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a partial lunar eclipse occurs when only a portion of the Moon passes through the Earth’s darkest shadow. During this type of eclipse, a part of the Moon will darken to a dim orange or red as it moves through the Earth’s shadow.

The partial lunar eclipse happening overnight tonight is said to be the longest partial lunar eclipse in nearly 600 years.
