Needles, California: The City of Needles will be hosting General Plan Community Meetings happening on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 inside the Needles Recreation Center located at 1705 J Street.

According to a flyer sent by Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, the City of Needles is hosting an open house to share information about citywide planning efforts and obtain your input on a variety of topics including:

– Places to protect, celebrate, and rehabilitate

– The Downtown and other areas of improvement

– Types of new development

Options to enhance walking and biking

– Improvements to the streets and highway

– Ways to create new business opportunities

Activities the open house will include:

– Giant maps

– Coloring station

– Idea wall

– Surveys

The General Plan for the City of Needles in an important documents that the community, consists of a statement of development policies, and includes a diagram or diagrams as well as text setting forth objectives, principles standards, and plan proposals.

The General Plan serves as a blueprint for the future of Needles, California; a comprehensive long-term plan for the physical development of the city, and is a state mandate for the city to do a General Plan.

Unfortunately, the last General Plan that has been done for the City of Needles in which the citizens and the city council approved was back in 1986; a long awaiting updated needing to be done as the vision back in 1986 many have changed in 2021.

In an interview with ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez, Needles City Manager Rick Daniels and Needles Assistant City Manager Patrick Martinez talks about the upcoming General Plan Community Meetings and how important is these meetings happening today for the community to attend.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels said that the General Plan is the vision, hopes and expectations for what the community will become, and helps guide individual ad-hoc decisions on everything; from park locations to private zoning permits decisions, to Capital Improvements because you need to make ensure that the infrastructures are in place for future development.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels and Needles Assistant City Manager Patrick Martinez explains to ZachNews how these meetings aren’t like meetings where you sit down and listen to a presentation lecture, that these meetings will be interactive making sure that the community is involved in this process.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels and Needles Assistant City Manager Patrick Martinez want the community to know that this is their opportunity to get involved in the future of their community. especially what the community would like to have in Needles, California for children, what the community would like downtown to be, and where the community would like cannabis to be built.

There will be two community meetings regarding the General Plan held today.

The first meeting will be held inside the Needles Recreation Center from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. PT being called “Let’s hear from the Kids”

Parents are also welcome to the meeting.

The second meeting is inside the Needles Recreation Center from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. PT being called “Let’s hear from Everyone!”

All are welcome to the meeting.

Attendees will also have a chance to win gift certificates from local businesses.
