Needles, California: An adjourned regular meeting of the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority was held on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 inside the Needles City Council Chambers.

The meeting was broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook, but due to technical issues with our camera, there was a pause in our broadcast to switch to another camera.

Needles City Council Members Kirsten Merritt and Tona Belt and as well as Needles City Vice Mayor Edward T. Paget M.D. and Needles City Mayor Jeff Williams were all present inside the chamber well Needles City Council Members Ellen A. Campbell and Zachery Longacre were present via teleconference.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels as well as Needles City Clerk Dale Jones were also present inside the chamber well Lena D. Wade from Slovak, Baron, Empey, Murphy & Pinkney L.L.P. was present via teleconference.

Interviews and possible appointment to fill the vacancy on the City Council with a term to expire December 2022.

The voted applicant will fill the vacancy left by former Needles City Council Member Timothy Terrall who resigned on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021.

Prior to their voting decision, members of the Needles City Council got to interview Donald Wade Evans II, Candace Martinez and Bob Rath who were present, Jamie McCorkle who was present on the video phone, and Sandra Queen Noble who wasn’t present for the interviews but did arrived just before the ending of the meeting.

Members of the Needles City Council voted Donald Wade Evans II onto the Needles City Council.

Shortly after the deciding vote, Needles City Clerk Dale Jones administered the Oath of Office and certificate of appointment to Donald Wade Evans II, and the rest of the meeting continued with the appointed Needles City Council Member Donald Wade Evans II.

Presentation of a check by representatives of the BHHS Legacy Foundation for improvements at Duke Watkins Park; accept the grant in the amount of $110,000 and approve an increase in general fund reserves and park expenses by an additional $110,000 for Fiscal Year 2022.

The City of Needles accepted a BHHS Legacy Foundation Duke Watkin Park Grant for $110,000 during the adjourned regular meeting of the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority held on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

Later during the meeting, Lena D. Wade from Slovak, Baron, Empey, Murphy & Pinkney L.L.P. reminded members of the Needles City Council that they needed to vote on accepting a check.

Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve the accepting the grant in the amount of $110,000.

Approve a budget increase for golf maintenance in the “Seed” budget line item of $25,062 from General Fund reserves and ratify the City Manager’s execution of the annual seed purchase from Helena Agri-Ent., LLC Las Vegas in the amount not to exceed $79,061.56.

Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve Agenda Item #4 and pull for discussion Agenda Items #3 and #5 on the Consent Calendar.

In regards to Agenda items #3, during discussioon Needles City Council Member Tona Belt that are well is working good; our water is find, we’re not running out of water, and that this is just our attempts to get a second well in case of an emergency like what happened last year.

Needles City Council Member Tona Belt then thanks to City of Needles staff for working on finding these grant.

After the discussion, members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve Agenda Item #3 on the Consent Calendar.

In regards to Agenda items #5, after short discussion members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted to approve Agenda Items #3 and #5 on the Consent Calendar.

Members of the Needles City Council unanimously approved to appoint Needles City Council Member Ellen A. Campbell as the delegate, and appoint Needles City Council Member Tona Belt and Needles City Manager Rick Daniels as the alternates.
