Surfside, Florida: Search and rescue crews rescued a cat at the partial collapse site of the Champlain Towers South condominium building on Friday, July 9th, 2021.

Mayor of Miami-Dade County Daniella Levine Cava confirmed the good news during an Friday afternoon news conference, saying the cat was found on the 9th Floor, and was reunited with the family.

Mayor of Miami-Dade County Daniella Levine Cava later posted on social media pictures of the cat name Binx, saying, “After 16 long and incredibly difficult days, I’m able to share a small piece of good news — Binx from Champlain Towers South has been found. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of our community to the team who played a role in reuniting him with his family.”

These hard working, dedicated and compassionate search and rescue crews have been working for over two weeks, continuing to recover the victims in the partial collapse site of the Champlain Towers South condominium building.

Thank you all and great work to all of the great search and rescue people who are continuing their efforts for the families of the victims of the partial collapse site of the Champlain Towers South condominium building.
