Faith leaders offered prayers, and at one point an impromptu religious procession unfolded as sisters in brown robes lit candles and marched with a priest holding a statue of Our Lady of Fatima.
As the moment of silence was held, a makeshift memorial shrined along a fence of a tennis court where the community has placed flowers, photos and a sign that read, “Miami-Dade Search and Rescue mourns with you.”
Early Thursday morning, search and rescue crews working on the pile paused and held a moment of silence to honor the victims of the collapse at approximately 1:20 a.m. ET, the time in which the building partially collapsed two weeks ago on Thursday, June 24th, 2021.
The recovery efforts continued on through Thursday.
ZachNews and the community sends our thoughts, prayers and condolences to all of the families and friends of the victims.
