Breaking News: Downtown Needles, CA: Local man arrested for assault, resisting a peace officer and probation violation.

Downtown Needles, California: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station has confirmed to ZachNews that a local man was arrested on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 for assault, resisting a peace officer and probation violation.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, at approximately 6:07 p.m. PT, deputies were dispatched to a suspicious person call on the 1100 block of West Broadway in Downtown Needles, California.

During the investigation, it was determined 48 years old Ruben Medrano from Needles, California assaulted a local resident, and when deputies attempted to arrest Ruben Medrano, he resisted.

In video obtained by ZachNews, a deputy is seen trying to arrest the Ruben Medrano just a block to the south of the incident location, along Third Street near I Street.

As the deputy try to arrest Ruben Medrano, a man in a dark shirt and shorts comes to the aid of the deputy.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, with the assistance of a citizen, Ruben Medrano was taken into police custody.

At this moment, the Good Samaritan man who came to help the deputy has not been identified.

The deputy from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station was not injured during the arrest.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, Ruben Medrano was booked for PC 240; Assault, PC 148(A)1; Resisting a Peace Officer and PC 3455; PRCS Probation Violation.

Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) is a form of supervision for an offender who has been released from a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institution to the jurisdiction of a county agency, pursuant to the California Legislature’s Post Release Community Supervision Act of 2011.

Penal Code (PC) Section 3451 states that all persons released from prison on or after October 1, 2011, after serving a prison term for a felony and, if eligible, upon release from prison shall be subject to supervision provided by a county agency.

Those on PRCS are supervised by the San Bernardino County Probation Department.
