Needles, California: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station has released publicly information regarding deputies responded to a boat on fire near Pirates Cove Resort docks that occurred on Saturday, April 10th, 2021.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, deputies responded to the report of a boat on fire at Park Moabi near the Pirates Cove Resort docks. Upon arrival deputies located a male suffering from burns and a personal watercraft (PWC) upside down in the water.
San Bernardino County Fire Department and Baker Ambulance responded and the male burn victim was flown by Care Flight to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment of his injuries. Through investigation it was discovered the male was working on the PWC and had removed the spark plug from the motor.
The male attempted to start the PWC with the spark plug near the motor causing the fuel inside the motor to ignite from the spark of the plug causing an explosion.
