Mohave County, Arizona: The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has released on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021 the identities of the victims in double-stack train versus two vehicles crash off South Railroad Frontage Road just east of Griffith Road.

At approximately 2:42 p.m. MST on Sunday, April 4th, 2021, deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded to the desert scene and found an intermodal freight transport train, train carrying mainly double-stack intermodal container, that had crashes into two vehicles.
According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, “the investigation revealed that the two vehicles were stopped at the railroad crossing, waiting for a passing eastbound train at milepost crossing 528.6. Once the east bound train passed, they began to cross the intersection, not seeing that a westbound train was approaching. Both vehicles were hit by the train.”
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Sunday that three occupants of the two vehicles were deceased at the scene of the crash.
In a press release today, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identities of the three people killed in the crash; 72 year old Larry Whatley from Kingman, Arizona who was the one occupant in the jeep, and 49 year old Virginia Voyles from Golden Valley, Arizona and 54 year old Wesley Hoagland from Golden Valley, Arizona who were the two occupants in the truck.
