Ludlow, California: Crash involving semi truck and a vehicle has occurred along westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 71.
The initial call came into dispatch at 1:04 p.m. PT on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 involving a semi truck, negative roll over, and a grey four door vehicle that rolled onto right shoulder.
According to the California Highway Patrol, passing motorist advising one party in the side of interstate is injured, and party was sitting in rear driver side where the semi struck the vehicle, and that the vehicle is on its wheel 100 feet off road down an embankment.
Brush Patrol 56, Desert Emergency Service Ambulance 1 and Medical Engine 53 are on scene.
Reports from the scene over the scanner of two patients delayed.
American Towing has been called to the scene.
As of 2:31 p.m. PT, California Highway Patrol reports one patient has been taken to Barstow Community Hospital due to pain to back, and hazmat has been called for diesel spilled on shoulder and roadway.
As of 2:41 p.m. PT, California Highway Patrol reports 40 gallons of diesel spilled.
As of 3:00 p.m. PT, Brush Patrol 56, Desert Emergency Service Ambulance 1 and Medical Engine 53 have left the scene.
Motorists should drive with caution through this area.
