Ontario, California: A suspect has been arrested after an over six hours later police pursuit.
The police pursuit started at around 7:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021 in Baldwin Hills, California.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department Spokesperson Rosario Cervantes, the police pursuit involved a driver of a silver vehicle who was suspected of having a weapon.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department began chasing the suspect through Crenshaw Boulevard and 39th Street in the Baldwin Hills, California area.
The driver than drove along La Cienega Boulevard northbound before getting on Slauson Avenue.
The driver then began driving along the wrong side of the street to avoid traffic and blew through red lights.
The driver then drove onto southbound Crenshaw Boulevard, driving recklessly through Hyde Park, California for an extended time, driving several times back onto Crenshaw Boulevard from other side streets.
The driver then drove onto southbound Interstate 110 merging onto the interstate at a slow speed and was swerving across lanes.

At 7:53 p.m. PT, the driver continued southbound Interstate 110 passing Interstate 105, California State Route 91 and Interstate 405.
During the police pursuit, the driver appeared to be changing clothes and on his cellular phone while driving.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department began getting calls from the suspect’s family that the man is mental ill, possible off his medication.
The driver continued along southbound Interstate 110 to the end of the freeway in San Pedro, California where the driver made a u-turn and drove northbound along Interstate 110.
The driver continued along northbound Interstate 110 all the way into Downtown Los Angeles, California before driving onto westbound U.S. Route 101.
The driver continued along westbound U.S. Route 101 passed Hollywood, California before exiting off near Universal City, California and getting back on eastbound along U.S. Route 101.
The driver continued along eastbound U.S. Route 101 passed Hollywood, California again and Downtown Los Angeles, California before getting onto eastbound Interstate 10.

The driver continued along eastbound Interstate for several miles passing the California communities of Monterey Park, Rosemead, Baldwin Park, West Covina, Covina, La Verne and Pomona.
During the police pursuit, people began to follow the police pursuit trying to get close up to take pictures, videos and broadcast live.
Above the police pursuit, several news helicopters broadcast live the police pursuit but time times had to leave to refill for gasoline as well as the police helicopters also following the police pursuit.
The driver exited Los Angeles County, California and entered into San Beranrdino County, California, passing the California communities of Claremont, Montclair and Upland before entering into Ontario, California at around 1:04 a.m. PT on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021.
At around 1:11 a.m. PT, the vehicle in the police pursuit was on three rims and began to spark in flames continuing to drive slowly.

At 1:29 a.m. PT, the suspect got out of the vehicle along eastbound Interstate 10 near North Vineyard Ave in Ontario, California, walked backwards to police with hands to his side, authorities surrounded the suspect and have taken the suspect into police custody.
