Breaking News: San Bernardino County, CA: Fatal vehicle crash with a semi truck along northbound U.S. Route 95 just south of Palm Gardens, Nevada.

San Bernardino County, California: Fatal vehicle crash with a semi truck occurred along U.S. Route 95 just south of Palm Gardens, Nevada.

The crash was initially reported to dispatch at 9:33 a.m. PT on Friday, January 29th, 2021 as a semi truck and a vehicle crash between mile marker 79 and mile marker 80 before the California state line with Nevada.

Medical Engine 32 from San Bernardino County Fire Department’s Station 32 in Needles, California is responding to the crash.

Reports that both directions of U.S. Route 95 are blocked due to the crash.

As of 9:48 a.m. PT; dispatch telling Medical Engine 32 that California Highway Patrol is on scene, and reports one person trapped, barely breathing and non-responsive. Medical Engine 32 telling dispatch to launch an airship and that they are 20 minutes away from the location. Dispatch telling Medical Engine 32 that Clark County Fire Department is sending an engine.

As of 9:59 a.m. PT; dispatch telling Medical Engine 32 that Squad 75 and Rescue 75 from Clark County Fire Department’s Station 75 from Searchlight, Nevada is responding to the crash.

As of 10:10 a.m. PT; Medical Engine 32 tells dispatch they’re on scene and an airship is in route. The incident is being called, “95 I.C.” (95 Incident Command).

As of 10:13 a.m. PT; Medical Engine 32 tells dispatch that canceled airship, medics have called the patient “D.O.A.” (Dead On Arrival).

As of 10:33 a.m. PT; Medical Engine 32 tells dispatch that that Squad 75 and Rescue 75 from Clark County Station 75 is available, and Medical Engine 32 remains on scene for coroners to arrive.

As of 10:36 a.m. PT; Medical Engine 32 tells dispatch that semi truck that was involved in the crash has a fuel leak; leaking 35 gallons of fuel. Caltrans Hazmat is on scene; Medical Engine 32 tells dispatch no need for fire department hazmat.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Needles Office, lanes are open at this time, however there may be intermittent closures as the investigation continues.

Motorists are being advised to avoid U.S. Route 95 between Interstate 40 and the Nevada state line, use Nevada State Route 163 to Needles Highway to Interstate 40 as an alternate route.
