Needles, California: The Needles Board of Public Utilities held a meeting and New Board Member Oath of Office inside the Needles City Council Chambers on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021.

The Needles Board of Public Utilities Meeting was broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook.

The City of Needles wants to remain the public that the Needles Board of Public Utilities is continuing to hold meetings pursuant to the provisions of the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20 which suspends certain requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act.

As a result of the California’s Executive Order to “Stay-At-Home”, the City of Needles said that in person participation at the Needles Board of Public Utilities meetings is not allowed at this time and the Needles City Council Chambers are not open to the public.

Members of the Needles Board of Public Utilities voted unanimously to approve the agenda.

The Oath of Office was administered by Cheryl K. Sallis to new Needles Board of Public Utilities member Candace Martinez via teleconference, and was present through the rest of the meeting via teleconference.

All matters listed on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed. The Chairman or any Member of the Board may pull an item from the Consent Calendar for discussion. Prior to Board action, a member of the public may address the Board on matters scheduled on the Consent Calendar. A three-minute time limit per person applies. Recommended Action: Approve Items #1 and #2 on the Consent Calendar by affirmative vote.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels spoke about utility lines replacement work being done off D Street; along the hillside.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels then spoke about COVID-19, saying the City of Needles had some COVID-19 incidents among the workforce but nothing serious, and that the City of Needles continues to provide face masks, gloves and safety equipment, saying the City of Needles is doing our very best.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels then spoke about the completed wet wells at the Bazoobuth Lift Station and River Road Lift Station by Jonovich Companies; showing pictures included the before and after pictures of the projects as showed to members of the Needles City Council last Tuesday.
