Needles, California: Residents are in mourning and in shock after a fatal residential structure fire at 511 Bazoobuth Street takes the lives of two children and authorities arresting the father.
Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and Mohave Valley Fire Department responded to the residential structure fire at 10:04 p.m. PT on Thursday, January 7th, 2021.
Flames seen coming from the windows of the home well the smoke can be seen from around the community.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station,”Once the fire was extinguished, fire personnel entered the structure and found two deceased children inside.”
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station said that due to the “suspicious nature of the incident,” detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division and Bomb/Arson Detail responded to conduct the investigation.
Investigators throughout the day on Friday were seen investigating the scene and taking pictures of the home as well as a pickup truck parked along B Street just north of Bazoobuth Street.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station,”Detectives learned that the mother of the children was out of town and the children’s father, Christifer Williamson, was caring for them. Williamson was not at the residence when deputies and fire personnel arrived.”
ZachNews learned that authorities have arrested the father of the two children in the afternoon on Friday, January 8th, 2021.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station,”At 3:30 p.m., detectives were notified that Arizona Department of Public Safety Officers conducted a traffic stop and detained Williamson. Williamson was transported to the Needles Station.”
Initially in their press release posted publicly (http://nixle.us/CFJD2), the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station said that Christifer Williamson was “booked on child endangerment charges,” but a source tells ZachNews that San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office plans to charge the 35 year old father with two courts of murder in this case.
The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office later confirmed that their office filed charges against Christifer Lewis Williamson, and ZachNews received on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 a document from the Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino Victorville District showing the two courts of “Penal Code Section 187(a) – Murder (Felony).”
