Laughlin, Nevada: Fatal vehicle crash occurred along Needles Highway just south of Casino Drive just after 4:10 a.m. PT on Friday, January 1st, 2021.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a white 2014 Lexus IS 250 was traveling north along Needles Highway at a high rate of speed.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the driver failed to maintain the travel lane and left the roadway, entering a desert area, and the driver was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the driver only identified as a 50 year old man from Bullhead City, Arizona was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once next of kin is notified.

Pictures from the scene released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau showed the vehicle along the far right shoulder of southbound Needles Highway near mile marker 6 next to Big Bend State Park.

Initial reports from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau stated that the crash occurred along Nevada State Route 163, but that was later corrected to Needles Highway.

The Needles Highway was closed during the investigation, but has since been reopened.
