News Update: Needles, CA: City of Needles sworn into office newly elected Needles City Council Members during meeting and Needles City Mayor via telecommunication following win during City of Needles Election 2020.

Needles, California: Newly elected members of the Needles City Council were officially sworn into office on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 following win during City of Needles Election 2020.

The newly elected members were sworn in during the Oath of Office portion of the Needles City Council, Needles Public Utility Authority and Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting held inside the Needles City Council Chambers.

The Oath of Office portion of the Needles City Council, Needles Public Utility Authority and Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency Meeting was broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook.

Before administering the Oath of Office, the previous members of the Needles City Council voted unanimously to approve Resolution No. 2020-83; reciting the fact of the General Municipal Election held on November 3, 2020, declaring the results, and such other matters as provided by law.

The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters final certified the election voting results on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020, and the voting results showed that Incumbent Tona Belt, Kristen Merritt and Ellen A. Campbell won the elections to fill three seats on the Needles City Council.

Needles’ City Clerk’s Office Dale Jones administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected members of the Needles City Council Tona Belt and Kristen Merritt in person and Ellen A. Campbell who was participating via teleconference/Zoom.

Tona Belt, Kristen Merritt and Ellen A. Campbell later thanked all of the people who voted for them.

The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters final certified the election voting also showed that Incumbent Needles City Mayor Jeff Williams won the election in Needles, California against Sandra Queen Noble.

Unfortunately, Jeff Williams was unable to attend or participate via phone/Zoom for the Oath of Office or meeting due to health issues.

Prior to this post, Needles’ City Clerk’s Office Dale Jones or Needles City Manager Rick Daniels didn’t provide further information on if or when Jeff Williams will be officially be sworn into office when he’s feeling better, and ZachNews didn’t received any notifications that the Oath of Office was going to be administer later in the week or that the Oath of Office was already administered.

But Monday afternoon, ZachNews got to briefly speak in person to Jeff Williams, and said that he was sworn into office via telecommunication back on Friday, December 18th, 2020.

ZachNews has learned that Jeff Williams is slowly returning to good health, and thanked all who re-elected him as mayor of Needles, California.

During the Oath of Office, Needles City Vice Mayor Dr. Edward T. Paget presented outgoing Needles City Council Members Shawn Gudmundson and Louise Evans certificates thanking them for their service on the Needles City Council.

Afterwards, the new members selected who will be the new Needles City Vice Mayor, voting unanimously to appoint Dr. Edward T. Paget as Needles City Vice Mayor.
