Downtown Needles, California: The Needles Holiday Fun Fair 2020 and PeeWee Derby 2020 was held on Saturday, December 5th, 2020.

The event was organized by the Needles Youth Development and Education Foundation, Needles Community Partners and the City of Needles, and went on with some changes made to this year’s event due to COVID-19, including no lighted parade and in person picture taking with Santa Claus.

Despite the changes to this year’s event, people from the community came out to enjoy the event; checking out the different vendor booths searching for the right holiday gift, enjoying the music entertainment by Bil Al and KJ Tony, or watching kids get their pinewood derby cars ready to race along West Broadway during the PeeWee Derby 2020 organized by the Needles Recreation Center.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez was there and broadcast live on Facebook the PeeWee Derby 2020.

Medals were awarded at the end of the PeeWee Derby 2020 for first and second place in ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 division races, and all racers will receive a participation ribbon.

The event ended with some dancing, singing and the lighting of a small Christmas tree by Cindi’s Kids with the help of Needles City Vice Mayor Edward T. Paget.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez was there and broadcast live on Facebook the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Thanks to the people who came out to enjoy the event, and great work to all of the people who worked on organizing the Needles Holiday Fun Fair 2020 and PeeWee Derby 2020.
