Needles, California: The Needles Board of Public Utilities held a meeting inside the Needles City Council Chambers on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020.

The Needles Board of Public Utilities Meeting was broadcast live at ZachNews on Facebook.

The City of Needles wants to remain the public that the Needles Board of Public Utilities is continuing to hold meetings pursuant to the provisions of the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20 which suspends certain requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act.

As a result of the California’s Executive Order to “Stay-At-Home”, the City of Needles said that in person participation at the Needles Board of Public Utilities meetings is not allowed at this time and the Needles City Council Chambers are not open to the public.

*** Public Hearing: ***

– Agenda Item #1:

Public hearing noticed to consider all evidence and testimony for or against proposed increases in water rates for water service.

Board Secretary will announce the final number of written protests received under Prop 218 and whether a majority protests exist.

Resolution No. 10-6-20 BPU establishing water rates for water service and recommending the City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority implement the recommended water rates; and rescinding all prior resolutions relating to establishment of water rates at the conclusion of the Prop 218 process and adoption of new rates by the City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority.

Ratify the city manager’s execution of the Bureau of Reclamation Financial Assistance Agreement Number R20AP00081 for Needles Advanced Meter Infrastructure Project with Automated Meter Reading for a total Reclamation grant amount of $213,826 and non-federal match of $213,898.41 for a total project cost of $427,724.41.

Members of the Needles Board of Public Utilities voted unanimously to approve Agenda Items #3, #4, #5, #6 and #8, and pull Agenda Item #7 (for discussion) and Agenda Item #9 (for need more information) on the Consent Calendar.
