Weather Alert: Needles, CA: Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory issued for today.

Needles, California: The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has issued a Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory for Wednesday, September 9th, 2020.

– The Red Flag Warning will continue in affect until 6:00 p.m. PT Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada, strong northerly winds will persist in the Colorado River Valley through Wednesday afternoon, with lesser winds expected elsewhere.

Winds will remain elevated through Wednesday afternoon.

Overnight recovery 20 to 25 percent, then falling to 6 to 12 percent Wednesday afternoon.

North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph overnight, then 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph during the day.

The Red Flag Warning includes Lake Mead NRA/Colorado River-AZ side-Lower Colorado River Valley- Lake Mead NRA/Colorado River-NV side.

Red Flag Warning impacts include any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautions includes a Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now…or will shortly. A combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

– The Wind Advisory will continue in affect until 6:00 p.m. PT Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada, north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

The Wind Advisory includes Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave-Lake Mead National Recreation Area- San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley- Including Lake Havasu City, Desert Hills, Topock, Bullhead City, Oatman, Mohave Valley, Needles, Hoover Dam, and Laughlin.

Wind Advisory impacts include gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects; and tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Precautions includes use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
