Joshua Tree, California: Firefighters are on scene of vegetation fires near the intersection of Cascade Road and Fourth Street.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the fires were result of lighting from storms moving through area.
The largest of the fires is near Cascade Road and Fourth Street.
As of 1:22 p.m., BC138 on scene assuming Cascade Incident Command. 20 acres on LRA with threat to Bureau of Land Management land.
As of 1:31 p.m., 40-50 acres with moderate to rapid rate of spread. No structure threat. Bureau of Land Management dispatching resources for threat to BLM lands. 6 engines, 1 crew, 2 tenders from the county assigned.
As of 2:05 p.m., Forward progress has slowed dramatically. Fire currently at 100-150 acres. Aircraft cancelled by BLM; hand crews and water tenders continuing.
As of 2:46 p.m., Forward progress stopped. Fire holding at 150 acres. Threat to BLM land mitigated. No threat to structures. No injuries. Crews committed 3-4 hours for mop-up.
