Needles, California: The California Highway Patrol’s Needles Office has released publicly information regarding the concerned citizen directly responsible in locating suspect and critical missing juvenile from Kings County receiving the Certificates of Appreciation for Outstanding Community Service on Thursday, August 6th, 2020.
The California Highway Patrol’s Needles Office posted on their official Facebook page, “Our concerned citizen, his son, and wife (not pictured) stopped by the Needles CHP office where they were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for outstanding community service by Lt. Berns. Their efforts were directly responsible in allowing the CHP to locate and safely recover the missing child and make an arrest in the case. On behalf of the California Highway Patrol, we thank you!”
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Needles Office, on Monday, August 3rd, 2020 at approximately 0530 hours, CHP Barstow Communications Center broadcast a call of a critical missing three year old juvenile female out of Kings County, CA.
The vehicle involved was described as a silver 2002 BMW 325i convertible, with Arizona license plate STEVBBY.
At approximately 0920 hours, CHP Barstow Communications Center received a 911 call from a concerned citizen regarding a suspicious circumstance.
The concerned citizen stated while they were parked at the eastbound Fenner Rest Area on Interstate 40, west of Goffs Rd, a little girl climbed into his vehicle and stated she was scared.
Immediately after, the little girl was removed from the vehicle by the suspect.
Both the suspect and the little girl entered a silver BMW convertible and continued eastbound on Interstate 40.
The concerned citizen followed the vehicle and provided the license plate to CHP Barstow Communications Center.
The license plate was confirmed as the same vehicle from the earlier critical missing broadcast.
The concerned citizen continued to follow the suspect vehicle and provide updated locations.
CHP Barstow Communications Center continued to broadcast the locations.
Units from the CHP Needles Area, began responding to locate the vehicle.
The vehicle was ultimately located on US-95, just north of Airport Rd, in the city of Needles.
An enforcement stop was conducted and suspect Charles Aguilar was taken into custody without incident.
The critical missing juvenile was also located uninjured.
Kings County Sheriff is the primary investigating agency for this investigation.
The California Highway Patrol would like to thank this concerned citizen for his efforts and his vigilance.
