Golden Valley, AZ: Kingman Police Department investigating Mohave County Sheriff’s Officer Involved Shooting that occurred along the 3600 block of North Santa Maria Road.

Golden Valley, Arizona: The Kingman Police Department has released publicly information regarding an investigation into a Mohave County Sheriff’s officer involved shooting that occurred along the 3600 block of North Santa Maria Road that occurred Wednesday, July 29th, 2020.

According to the Kingman Police Department, detectives are conducting a criminal investigation of an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday, July 29th, at about 11:30 p.m., in the 3600 blk of N. Santa Maria Rd.

The involved officer is a deputy with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, wherein a 42-year-old Golden Valley man, identified as Jason Matthew Henke, was killed.
The investigation has revealed that a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 68 at approximately 11:15 p.m.

During the contact with the driver of the vehicle, the Deputy developed information of Henke, known to be a wanted person, to be at a residence in the 3600 blk of N. Santa Maria Rd.

The deputy responded to a residence in the 3600 blk of Santa Maria Rd. at approximately 11:30 p.m. The Deputy contacted Henke and observed a firearm was within Henke’s possession. Henke was ordered not to reach or grab the gun.

Ultimately, Henke reached for his firearm and the deputy fired multiple rounds striking Henke. Henke succumbed to his injuries and died on scene.

Henke had 3 felony warrants encompassing the following charges:
8 counts of Aggravated Assault (class 3 felony)
6 counts of Disorderly Conduct Involving a Weapon (class 3 felony)
2 counts of Disorderly Conduct Involving a Weapon (class 6 felony)
Stalking by Domestic Violence (class 5 felony)
Criminal Damage (class 6 felony)
Unlawful Flight (class 5 felony)
Threatening by Domestic Violence (class 1 misdemeanor)
Harassment by Domestic Violence (class 1 misdemeanor)
Indecent Exposure (class 1 misdemeanor)

Per standard protocol the deputy, whose name is not being released pending the conclusion of the investigation, has been placed on administrative leave.

No further information is being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
