Needles, California: Members of the Needles City Council unanimously voted on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 to name the complex between Nikki Bunch Memorial and Franz Flowers baseball fields off J Street the “JoJo” Garcia Sports Complex in honor of a great community and sports volunteer Joseph “JoJo” Garcia.
Joseph “JoJo” Garcia, a local resident who selflessly donated many hours to local youth basketball and flag football league including volunteering for Needles Little League and CRAGS Softball as well as on the football field during football games at Needles High School and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and St. Ann’s Catholic Church, passed away on the night of Thursday, November 14th, 2019 near Nikki Bunch Memorial Field were he was volunteering at a flag football game.

The vote came after discussion if renaming Morris Street to “JoJo” Garcia Way would be the best way to honor him came and when, and the idea of renaming the complex near where JoJo volunteered many times in his life became a better way to honor his work and life.
Morris Street as well as Nikki Bunch Memorial and Franz Flowers baseball fields would retain their current names.
